Lowhill Blackout/ Village at Lyons

His sire’s movement stands Blackout well in the dressage phase

Born 2003, dam Derry Lavin Lady by Bright Will (TB). Lowhill Blackout made his CIC*** debut as an eight year old in 2011, ridden by Katie O’Sullivan

By May 2012. he had 176 Eventing Ireland points. To put this into context, a horse becomes CNC*** Advanced (the highest national grade) on 61 points or more.

Blackout is now competing in International 3 Day competition, and is showing himself to be well able for the job. Recent results include:

  • 2nd at Annaharvey Interational on May 20th, on a score of 43.9pts
  • 5th at Ballindennisk CIC3*** in April 2012.

Not bad for a nine year old!

Blackout changed hands in October 2012. He will be competed in 2013 by Irish Olympic rider, Camilla Spiers. We wish them both the best of luck!

Update June 2013:  Blackout has had an identity crisis, and is now known as Lowhill Village at Lyons. It doesn’t seem to have affected his concentration though – here he is at Tattersalls in June 2013!

Here’s what Camilla has to say about him:

             Lowhill Village at Lyons (Blackie)

“2002, 16.2hh, Brown gelding
By Carrick Diamond Lad
Blackie was purchased for me at the end of 2012, by my long-standing supporters at ‘The Village at Lyons’, with the hope of taking him to the Olympic Games in Rio 2016. He is an extremely talented horse and we have recorded some solid results whilst getting to know each other. In the lead up to Rio, I will focus on achieving some solid CCI3* results and hopefully take him to 4*. I think this horse has what it takes to compete at an Olympic Games. He has improved a lot over the past couple of years and he is a really athletic horse with a tough attitude and a lot of ability.”
